The Power of Process: Our Story
No more IT worries, ever.
Like so many self-started businesses, Zia Networks began with a passion and a problem.
The passion? All things computers and IT. My team and I are all bona fide computer geeks; a fascination that, for many of us, goes right back to childhood. My own love of tech was sparked when I got my first glimpse of a computer monitor as a adolescent. That passion ignited my career and propelled me through many years in the evolving IT industry, in roles as service manager, chief technology officer, and IT security administrator for various organizations here in New Mexico.
Now for the problem: tech support. Specifically, what I call “shotgun tech support” that only patches up problems rather than getting to their roots. I saw this time and time again as the lead network person and IT security manager for Century Bank. Whenever I had to call in outside vendors to assist with our desktop computers, servers, phone system, or procurement, they came and fixed the immediate problem at hand. But the approach was ad hoc and aimed solely at minimizing downtime. There was no process, no vision, and no lasting results. It was like Groundhog Day. The next time the bank needed tech support, the vendors would rush to find a temporary fix using the same scattershot approach. By prioritizing speedy solutions, we actually ended up wasting huge amounts of time and money.
That’s when my vision for Zia Networks began to form. I saw a real opportunity to serve New Mexico by offering a different kind of IT and tech support that would function, not as a band-aid, but a business asset. One that would truly solve problems and improve clients’ lives — and livelihoods. I used my experience working for banks and other major organizations to create a business roadmap, guided by the question:
What does a business IT infrastructure need to be both stable and secure?
IT support that works like an extension of your team.
And not just another external vendor working with your business.

Thought Process
When a client calls or emails for help. The attention is given with thought in mind. Direction. Not the shotgun approach where we threw out ideas, considering what the client has, their network, and software. This allows each tech at our office to help without wasting your valuable time on questions and solutions that slow you down. With daily discussions on the businesses, we serve we know the ins and out.
Ticket Anxiety
We do our best to answer the call before it goes to voicemail, if we don’t, we work hard to get to the resolution of your issue quickly. Not only do we say we respond fast, but we have a guarantee with each client on response time, an SLA (service level agreement) is a promise. We take your issue personally and want it solved.
No Nickels Here
Have you ever worked with someone that is constantly overwhelmed with their work and is scattered? They don’t have time to think, they probably have hundreds of accounts. We don’t pick up every nickel that comes our way. What do I mean by that? During our initial discussions and discovery of your network. We verify if you are a fit and if we can genuinely help you. Also, we only work with clients we have agreements with.
Hidden Locations
We all help
Have you ever called a company and it takes long to get support and they pass you along to someone in another country or state? All of us are in the Albuquerque and Santa Fe area. The entire company has your well-being in mind, how can I guarantee that? Well of the eight people at Zia Networks, you will still work regularly with the owners, including technical issues, not just billing!
Small but defined
We take pride in supporting companies with a global reach. Despite our small size, we have the advantage of getting to know your needs intimately. Yet, we are also large enough to provide you with the same robust systems that keep larger corporations running smoothly. Our clientele spans from small networks of five people to enterprises with a global footprint.
Our Story, Our Team.
Zia Networks was founded in 2014 when our owners saw a need for professional IT support that offered not only top-notch service but solutions that were value-based and accessible to the small and mid-sized business community. The first time I was able to defuse someone’s stress and make them comfortable working with technology, I knew this was the job for me. I was drawn to IT as a career field because I love helping people and focusing on how things work. As a child, I spent hours taking things apart just to see how they were built and how the parts all functioned together. I took my first steps into the world of computers with web and graphic design courses, then shifted in the direction of networking and security. I appreciate the value of balance in my life. So, when I’m not working out the solution to a computer problem, I’m cooking or I’m outdoors getting some fresh air and physical activity — skiing and hiking are my favorite things to do. I also love a good corny joke, so lay your best one on me!

If there’s one thing I’ve learned so far working at Zia, it’s the value of great service. Everything comes down to connecting with the client and supporting them. After all, technology can be intimidating, especially for people who don’t deal with it every day, like we do. There’s definitely a unique culture here, and I’m proud to be part of it. Since technology is constantly evolving, I make a point of staying humble about what I know and consistently growing my skill set. I look forward to a successful career serving our awesome clients here at Zia.

I dabble in many things — camping, hiking, and off-roading with my husband as well as neuroplasticity and quantum physics — I also put a lot of effort into cultivating deep knowledge in several areas. That’s part of what drew me to a career in IT: the ability to constantly learn and develop my skill set. A lifelong tinkerer, I used to disassemble my toys as a childhood hobby. When my family got its first home computer, it wasn’t long before I cracked open the tower to inspect the motherboard and circuitry. My poor parents were aghast…until I got it up and running again. My love of learning propelled me into an Associate’s degree in computer information technology, where I was awarded the top computer student award in my graduating class. I’m also A+ Certified, and ready to delve into any computer issue, be it hardware or software, and expand my repertoire of knowledge even further. I learned how important technology can be and how it effects relationships. In college, I helped an elderly woman better communicate with her daughter by improving her email. A straight-forward issue, but one that improved someone’s life. I carry that feeling and motivation on to this day with my clients.

As an introvert, I feel like I’m tailor-made for details. I get to listen more than I speak, think through interesting challenges, and come up with creative solutions — all while helping people solve their problems and support the local business community. My bachelor’s degree in intercultural communication, also comes in super handy. Talk about a dream job. I’m the quintessential introvert in my free time, too, getting lost in books and arts and crafts. I’m also the proud owner of two pampered guinea pigs that I love to shower with attention.

Some moments stay with you forever. For me, it happened in grade school — the day I spotted an old, dusty, beige Mac being wheeled down the hallway like it was headed for the junkyard. Something about it stopped me cold. Then came Oregon Trail, hunched over a glowing monitor, desperately trying to ford rivers and outlast dysentery with my virtual wagon party. I was completely spellbound. Those early years of clicking, exploring, and yes — losing countless pioneers to cholera — planted a seed that never stopped growing. Growing up in New Mexico, I didn't have a Silicon Valley roadmap to follow, but I had something better: genuine curiosity and a natural instinct for figuring things out.
Long before anyone was Googling answers or watching YouTube tutorials, I was the teenager at Office Depot in Santa Fe who customers sought out when their machines wouldn't cooperate or their home networks went dark. I loved every minute of it. That hands-on experience laid the foundation for my IT degree with a focus on computer networks — and honestly, it confirmed what I already suspected: this was exactly where I belonged.
Santa Fe has always shaped how I approach my work. There's a spirit here that blends creativity with craftsmanship, and I carry that into everything I do. I'm deeply detail-oriented — the kind of person who genuinely enjoys a good checklist — but I also lead with warmth and patience. Technology can feel intimidating, and I take real satisfaction in demystifying it for clients, solving their IT headaches, and freeing them up to focus on what they love doing.
Now at 40, I sometimes catch myself shaking my head in amazement. The technology landscape I grew up tinkering with looks almost nothing like what we work with today, and honestly? That fills me with joy. Watching two decades of innovation unfold in real time — from dial-up modems to cloud computing, from those clunky beige Macs to AI-powered everything — has been one of the great privileges of choosing this field. I wouldn't trade it for anything.
My passion for IT security, networking, managing server clusters, and tracking the latest tech developments hasn't dimmed one bit since that first encounter with that old Mac in the hallway. If anything, it's only grown. My goal is simple: keep our clients' systems running, secure, and always one step ahead.

I’ve always been an electronics guy, and I get a real kick out of assembling and implementing everything from computers and monitors to TVs and entertainment centers. I was the go-to guy in my family, and still am! I credit my expertise in all things IT to two things: my uncles and my time working for a local computer repair shop. Bringing me on board with their construction projects, my uncles taught me the value of precision and accuracy when building anything, along with the importance of making the finished product look clean and presentable. My background in computer repair, as well as several computer tech college courses, showed me how to diagnose and repair computers with confidence. When I’m not busy with clients or tech support, I’m enjoying the great outdoors, fishing, camping, hiking, and off-roading with my beloved wife and two beautiful children.
